UNIVERSE is a Kirkus Best Book of the Year!

My head is officially exploding over the news that the ultra-discerning reviewers at Kirkus have named THE DAY THE UNIVERSE EXPLODED MY HEAD, by Allan Wolf and me a Best Poetry Picture Book of 2019!

”Poems about stars, planets, moons, and other astronomical wonders, accompanied by stylish anthropomorphic illustrations…A giddy ride through our stellar neighborhood and beyond.”

You can read all about it, and see the other wonderful books on the list. If with all of this news you find yourself suffering from FOMOoEH (Fear of Missing Out on Exploding Heads), you can procure a copy of the book here. I for one am over the moon!

The latest science picture book collaboration by David A. Adler and me is now available wherever books are sold!

The fifth book in the series from Holiday House, SOLIDS, LIQUIDS, GASES, & PLASMA follows the adventures of a twin sisters, their wise yet gassy dog, and their much-harried dad as all prepare for a birthday feast for Grandma. As usual, the book is chock full of easy-to-follow concepts and experiments for kids to try out at home.

Kirkus Reviews had some nice things to say:

“The creators of Light Waves have teamed up again to create another engaging science book for kids….Eye-catching illustrations with details that will delight."

And as a nod to my own family, the neon pink flamingo my nephews once gifted my mom several years ago makes an appearance. To get a copy for the budding scientist in your life, click here.

I also finished a trailer for SOLIDS which you can watch here. If you are a teacher or librarian and would like a copy for your classroom, head over to my Twitter page for a chance to win one of ten copies.
